Dear colleagues!

I welcome the participants and guests of the VIII International Siberian Historical Forum! It has become an authoritative discussion platform for the entire Russian historical and cultural community. Krasnoyarsk today welcomes representatives of more than a hundred universities from 70 cities of Russia – from St. Petersburg and Petrozavodsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, employees of specialized institutes of the Academy of Sciences, leading museums of the country and foreign friends. The large-scale humanitarian event is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the 200th anniversary of the Yenisei province, which we will celebrate next year. As many domestic historians have written, Russia only became Russia when it absorbed Siberia. In the Yenisei North, great Russian geographical discoveries began, the development of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic. From here to the Pacific Ocean, courageous pioneers went towards the sun, conquering the vast expanses of North Asia. Dear friends! I wish all forum participants fruitful work and interesting professional communication, which in many ways moves science forward.
